Renowned Pakistani actress Madiha Shah recently opened up about a major decision in her career. She revealed that she once declined an offer to act alongside Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar in the iconic 1994 film Mohra.
During a recent talk show appearance, Madiha Shah shared that she was offered a leading role in the film, famous for its hit song “Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast.” She explained that she chose not to accept the offer to focus on her work in Pakistan.
“I was offered to work with Akshay Kumar in Mohra, but I didn’t accept the offer because I wanted to give priority to my own country,” she stated. The actress highlighted her strong connection to Pakistan’s entertainment industry and her sense of responsibility to promote local talent rather than seek fame abroad.
Madiha Shah also shared touching moments from her career where her performances impressed industry legends. She recalled that veteran actor Afzaal Ahmed was often moved to tears by her acting.
Additionally, she revealed that Anil Kapoor’s father and veteran actress Shabana Azmi had attended her stage play Janam Janam Ki Maili Chadar. Even celebrated Indian poet Gulzar expressed a desire to watch the play.
According to Madiha Shah, “Shabana Azmi became emotional after watching my performance and said there is theater in India too, but this play stands as an example of its own.” These experiences highlight her impactful presence not only in Pakistan but also across borders.
