Apple TV has released the first trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, giving fans a glimpse of the new threats facing the Monarch team.
The first season ended with a dramatic collision that broke the barrier between Hollow Earth and the surface, leaving the heroes stranded on Skull Island. Season 2 explores the consequences of that event, including the emergence of a new titan, Titan X, a glowing-eyed, multi-armed aquatic giant.
In the trailer, Kurt Russell and Anna Sawai reveal that the disturbances in both the titan and human worlds are not caused by Godzilla or Kong, who appear briefly, but by something far more powerful. The official synopsis describes the creature as having uncertain purpose, unmatched power, and both awe and terror in equal measure.
Season 2 continues the storylines of season 1 while introducing younger versions of key characters. Wyatt Russell appears as young Lee Shaw, and Anders Holm plays young Bill Randa, the Monarch operative originally portrayed by John Goodman in Kong: Skull Island (2017). Returning stars Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, and Joe Tippett also feature in the new season.
Guest stars include Takehiro Hira, Amber Midthunder, Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper, and Camilo Jiménez Varón. The series is executive produced by Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures, along with Chris Black, Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Andrew Colville, and Lawrence Trilling. Chris Black returns as showrunner for season 2, with Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive producing for Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 will stream weekly on Apple TV starting Friday, February 27. Fans of the Monsterverse franchise can expect epic battles, deeper character arcs, and new mysteries as the legacy of monsters continues.
With its mix of returning favorites and new threats, season 2 promises to expand the Legacy of Monsters universe while delivering thrilling action and suspense.
