According to Delhi Police, the incident took place on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road on Thursday, October 2, 2025. The suspects were identified as Rahul from Panipat and Sahil from Bhiwani, both from Haryana.
Investigators said the duo was acting on instructions from gangster Rohit Godara, who is based abroad. Godara is believed to have been working closely with Goldy Brar and Virender Charan. Together, they had allegedly planned the Munawar Faruqui plot.
Police revealed that the two men carried out reconnaissance in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Their purpose was to gather details of the comedian’s routine and travel patterns.
Munawar Faruqui is a well-known stand-up comic who gained wide popularity after winning Bigg Boss in 2024. He currently has more than 14 million followers on Instagram.
During the encounter, one of the accused, Rahul, was shot and later taken to a hospital for treatment. Police sources confirmed he is also wanted in a triple murder case that took place in Yamunanagar, Haryana, in December 2024.
Authorities seized firearms and a motorcycle used by the suspects during the exchange of fire. Further investigation is underway to determine if more individuals were involved in the plot.
Police stated that the arrests mark an important step in disrupting operations of the gang led by Rohit Godara. The foiled attack highlights ongoing threats faced by public figures from organized crime groups.
