Netflix Announces Squid Game Season 2: Premiere Date and Teaser Trailer Revealed

The 2024 Olympics are underway, but Netflix’s “real game” will start with the release of Squid Game Season 2 on Thursday, December 26.

On July 31, Netflix announced the premiere date for the eagerly awaited new season with a track-and-field-themed teaser. The streaming service also revealed that the third and final season will air in 2025.

The announcement, shared on Netflix’s official X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts, included a teaser video featuring a close-up of runners on a crowded track. Amid screams and chaos, the Front Man appears, asking, “It’s been three years. Do you want to play a game?”

The synopsis reveals that three years after winning the Squid Game, Player 456 (Lee Jung-jae) is determined to expose and end the game. He starts his search by looking for the man playing ddakji in the subway but discovers that dismantling the organization is more perilous than expected—he must re-enter the game to finish it.

Season one of Squid Game is currently available on Netflix, along with its real-life competition spin-off, Squid Game: The Challenge.
