MUMBAI – Composer Palash Muchhal quietly removed all social media posts featuring Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana a day after confirming their wedding had been called off.
Fans noticed on Monday that videos of Palash Muchhal proposing to Smriti at DY Patil Stadium and celebrating her Women’s World Cup victory were deleted from his Instagram account. These clips had gone viral after India’s triumph in Mumbai last month.
The couple had been set to marry on November 24 in Sangli, Smriti’s hometown. However, even as pre-wedding events were underway, media were informed that the wedding was postponed indefinitely due to Smriti’s father falling ill. Shortly after, Palash Muchhal and his family returned to Mumbai, where he was reportedly hospitalized due to stress.
Rumors quickly circulated alleging that Palash had been involved with a choreographer during the celebrations. Both choreographers present at the event denied the claims, calling the rumors baseless.
On Sunday, Smriti Mandhana used Instagram Stories to confirm that the wedding had been cancelled, requesting privacy for both families. At the same time, Palash Muchhal issued a formal statement acknowledging the cancellation.
“I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship,” he wrote. He also addressed the rumors, stating, “It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me. It’s the most difficult phase of my life, and I will deal with it gracefully.”
Palash urged the public to be cautious with unverified gossip, saying, “Our words can wound in ways we may never understand.”
