Pixar and Disney Jr. have exciting news for Cars fans. At a special event in Anaheim, they revealed a new series titled Cars: Lightning Racers.
The show will premiere in 2027 on Disney Jr., with streaming to follow on Disney+. It will be produced by Disney Television Animation in partnership with Pixar.
The new series follows familiar faces. Lightning McQueen and Mater return, joined by new characters: Pipes, a thrill-seeking drag car, and Miles, a mud-loving monster truck. The cast includes Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Tony Shalhoub, Cheech Marin, Bob Peterson, and John Ratzenberger. New voices include Leah Lewis as Pipes and Yuri Lowenthal as Miles.
Set in Radiator Springs, the show promises fresh adventures and old friendships. Early previews suggest the tone will blend humor and action, just like the films.
The series expands the Cars universe in a way aimed at younger viewers. It continues the franchise’s legacy but in a preschool-friendly format.
