‘Don 3’ Controversy Deepens As Ranveer Singh’s Father Approaches IMPPA

‘Don 3’ Controversy Deepens As Ranveer Singh’s Father Approaches IMPPA

The dispute over Ranveer Singh’s reported exit from Don 3 has taken a new turn. His father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, approaches the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) to present the actor’s side.

Bhavnani met IMPPA representatives on Tuesday and submitted documents linked to the ongoing dispute. The association’s legal team will now examine the submitted material.

The development comes after producers reportedly sought compensation over Ranveer’s withdrawal from Don 3. Excel Entertainment has reportedly claimed losses of around INR 45 crore.

The producers, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, had previously approached IMPPA regarding the matter. They reportedly submitted project-related documents, including Ranveer’s agreement.

The controversy dates back to Ranveer’s involvement in Don 3. The project was announced in August 2023, with Ranveer taking over the title role.

He was set to play Don after Shah Rukh Khan portrayed the character in the first two films. The casting announcement had generated significant interest among Bollywood audiences.

Ranveer’s reported withdrawal later created uncertainty around the project. The producers subsequently raised concerns about the financial impact of his exit.

The dispute also involved the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). The organisation issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer in May.

The directive was withdrawn eight days later following discussions between several industry bodies. IMPPA, the Producers Guild of India and CINTAA were reportedly involved in those discussions.

Ranveer’s representatives had earlier questioned IMPPA’s authority to intervene in the dispute. However, his father now approaches the association directly with documents supporting the actor’s position.

The move suggests that Ranveer’s side is prepared to participate in the industry’s dispute resolution process. IMPPA will review submissions from both parties before deciding its next step.

The association has not announced any final decision regarding the matter. It is also unclear when the legal review will be completed.

The reported INR 45 crore claim remains a central issue in the dispute. The producers are seeking to establish the losses allegedly caused by Ranveer’s departure.

Meanwhile, the actor’s side is expected to present its arguments during the ongoing process. The documents submitted by Bhavnani could provide further context about the disagreement.

The latest development keeps the Don 3 controversy in focus within the Indian film industry. The project’s future and the financial dispute remain subjects of attention.

IMPPA is expected to examine the material carefully before taking further action. Any decision could influence the next stage of the dispute between Ranveer’s side and the producers.
