Pop star and actress Selena Gomez proved that love and compassion go hand in hand — even on her wedding day.
Speaking at the Third Annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit: A Night of Radiance & Reflection, Gomez revealed that she and her husband, Benny Blanco, requested their wedding guests to donate to the Rare Impact Fund instead of giving traditional gifts.
“I think it’s not so much that Rare was a part of it,” she told People. “It’s just that I wanted to share with my community a little piece of happy. They’ve changed my life, so that was my way of doing that.”
A Celebration With Purpose
The Rare Impact Fund, launched by Gomez in 2020 on her 28th birthday, supports youth mental health initiatives worldwide. It aims to raise $100 million, and so far, it has already collected $20 million through donations, corporate partnerships, and Gomez’s beauty brand, Rare Beauty.
Gomez expressed immense pride in the progress of the fund, saying, “This is the most proud I’ve ever been of any of my projects. I’m just honored and stoked to see it come this far.”
When she created the fund, Gomez said her goal was to use her platform and beauty brand to give back to communities in need, especially those struggling with mental health issues — something she has been personally open about throughout her career.
A Star-Studded Wedding
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco tied the knot on September 27, celebrating their union with a three-day wedding extravaganza attended by some of the biggest names in music and Hollywood.
Guests included Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Paris Hilton, Finneas, and Gomez’s Only Murders in the Building co-stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, Paul Rudd, Ashley Park, and Cara Delevingne.
Her Emilia Pérez castmates Édgar Ramírez and Zoe Saldaña, as well as her Wizards of Waverly Place co-stars Jennifer Stone, David DeLuise, and Maria Canals-Barrera, were also in attendance.
Rare Impact’s Growing Legacy
The Rare Impact Fund continues to expand its global footprint by partnering with organizations that provide counseling services, digital therapy access, and educational mental health resources for young people.
Through this heartfelt gesture, Gomez not only celebrated her marriage but also reinforced her lifelong commitment to mental health advocacy and philanthropy.
