Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram and his Australian wife, Shaniera Akram, are celebrating ten years of marriage. Shaniera celebrated the occasion on social media, reflecting on their journey together.

Wasim and Shaniera’s love journey began in 2011 when they met at a friend’s BBQ in Melbourne. Wasim, a cricketing legend in Pakistan, related an entertaining incident about Shaniera’s early ignorance about his celebrity. “I met her at a BBQ at a friend’s house in Melbourne. She had no idea who I was… “Eventually, I told her that I was a bit of a celebrity in Pakistan,” he admitted on Time Out with Ahsan Khan last year.
Marrying someone from a different culture and background was a life-changing decision for Shaniera. “You don’t marry someone from overseas, from a different culture, background, and generation unless it’s something magnificent, right?” she asked. The couple’s long-distance connection necessitated phone conversation, which allowed them to form a deep friendship before moving further with their love.
