Shaukat Zaidi's Farewell: Family Grieves at His Funeral

Esteemed actor and journalist Shaukat Zaidi passed away in Lahore on Saturday following an extended battle with a chronic lung ailment. His funeral took place on Sunday.

Confirming the news, Zaidi’s son, along with his childhood friend and actor Jawad Wasim, revealed that Zaidi had been grappling with a prolonged lung disease and had been under treatment at a private hospital in Johar Town for the past month. The veteran actor had been on a ventilator prior to his demise.

The funeral prayers for Zaidi were conducted at the Miyani Sahib graveyard, attended by actors Sohail Ahmed, Jawad Wasim, Parvez Raza, Aurangzeb Leghari, and Mujahid Abbas, as well as director Qaiser Javed.

A stalwart in the entertainment industry for over four decades, Zaidi commenced his career with theatre productions like Jhoot Ke Paon and Fasaad Ki Jaar, eventually venturing into writing and directing 15 plays.

His career was marked by impactful roles in numerous dramas, notably in Wafa Ka Mausam, and the politically charged satire show Hum Sub Umeed Se Hain, which addressed prevalent societal issues.

In addition to his contributions to acting, Zaidi also penned a book of poetry, yet to be published.

He is survived by one son, two daughters, and his spouse.
