Sindh Government Announces ‘Mera Lyari’ Film To Counter India’s Propaganda Movie ‘Dhurandhar’

The Sindh government has announced the release of a new film titled Mera Lyari in response to the Indian movie Dhurandhar. The Indian film has faced criticism for portraying Pakistan and Lyari in a negative light.

Sindh Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sharjeel Inam Memon shared the announcement on social media platform X. He described Dhurandhar as propaganda that deliberately targets Lyari and misrepresents the area.

Memon said Lyari should not be shown as a symbol of violence. He stated that Lyari represents culture, peace, talent, and resilience. According to him, Indian cinema has repeatedly tried to damage Pakistan’s image through such portrayals.

The minister confirmed that Mera Lyari will be released next month. He said the film will present the true and positive identity of Lyari to audiences at home and abroad. He added that Lyari is a place of peace, prosperity, and pride.

Sharjeel Memon also shared two official posters of Mera Lyari. The posters feature senior actors Nadeem Ejaz and Samina Ahmed. Actress Dananeer Mobeen also appears in the film.

According to the posters, the film is produced by Ayesha Omar. The script and direction are by Abu Aleeha. The project aims to highlight the social fabric and cultural richness of Lyari.

The announcement comes after Dhurandhar sparked strong backlash in Pakistan. Critics accused the Indian film of showing Lyari as a war zone. Many said such depictions promote stereotypes and ignore reality.

In Dhurandhar, actor Ranveer Singh plays a RAW agent. Arjun Rampal portrays a Pakistani intelligence officer. The storyline has drawn criticism for reinforcing political narratives through cinema.

With Mera Lyari, the Sindh government hopes to correct the narrative. Officials believe local stories should be told by those who understand the area. The film is expected to showcase Lyari’s real struggles, achievements, and cultural heritage.

The release of Mera Lyari reflects Pakistan’s effort to respond through storytelling rather than rhetoric. The government says cinema can be a powerful tool to promote truth and cultural identity.
