Renowned Indian singer Sonu Nigam has expressed deep gratitude for Pakistani music legend Attaullah Esakhelvi. He said the veteran artist played a key role in shaping his career.
In a recent interview, Sonu Nigam recalled that he started his career by covering Attaullah’s songs. “He called me and said, ‘Mr. Sonu, I am Attaullah Esakhelvi from Pakistan, and I want to tell you that you sang it really well,’” Sonu shared.
He added, “I was just 19 at that time. It was very kind of him. I pray for all those legendary singers who contributed to my success.” Sonu highlighted that the encouragement from Attaullah gave him confidence in his early career.
Sonu Nigam also mentioned that his hit song “Acha Sila” was a turning point. “I credit all my success to him. That song was heard by every person in India,” he said. He expressed that he feels indebted to the legendary singer for his guidance and support.
