Taylor Swift has officially revealed her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, set to release on October 3. The album will feature 12 carefully selected tracks, including a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on the title song. Fans will also hear a fresh rendition of George Michael’s 1987 hit, Father Figure.
Swift shared the album’s tracklist and cover art during a guest appearance on New Heights, the podcast hosted by her partner, Travis Kelce, and his brother, former NFL player Jason Kelce.
She explained that the album was written and recorded in Europe while touring for her Eras Tour, which became the first concert series to generate over $1 billion in revenue and $2 billion in total over 21 months.
The album reflects Taylor Swift’s experiences from two years of continuous touring. Unlike her previous release, The Tortured Poets Department, which had 31 songs and included a surprise second release, Swift confirmed that this album will not contain any extra material. “This is the record I’ve dreamed of creating for a long time,” she told the Kelces.
The tracklist includes: The Fate of Ophelia, Elizabeth Taylor, Opalite, Father Figure, Eldest Daughter, Ruin the Friendship, Actually Romantic, Wi$h Li$t, Wood, Cancelled!, Honey, and The Life of a Showgirl featuring Sabrina Carpenter.
This project also marks the return of Swedish producers Max Martin and Shellback, who have previously worked with Swift on Red, 1989, and Reputation. They influenced some of her most famous hits, including Shake It Off and Blank Space.
Fans have speculated that some songs may touch on Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce, which became public in 2023. Taylor Swift confirmed that every track was chosen deliberately to maintain a cohesive theme.
Leading up to the announcement, Taylor Nation shared 12 images from the Eras Tour on Instagram and a countdown timer on her official website, which temporarily went offline.
Swift’s last album, The Tortured Poets Department, broke multiple streaming records, including 300 million Spotify streams in a single day and over one billion streams in just five days.
