Taylor Swift Fans Grateful Super Bowl Didn't Affect Tokyo Concerts

Taylor Swift fans expressed gratitude on Saturday that her Japanese tour schedule was not affected by the Super Bowl, as she concluded her final concert in Tokyo. Swift began the Asia leg of her “Eras Tour” with four concerts in Tokyo earlier this week.

Concerns arose about whether Swift would be able to make it to Las Vegas in time to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce at the Super Bowl, where the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce’s team, would face the San Francisco 49ers.

In response to these concerns, the Japanese embassy released a playful statement, using Swift’s song titles to suggest that she could indeed make it to the Super Bowl if she left immediately after her final Tokyo concert.

Attendees at Saturday’s concert expressed relief that the Tokyo concerts were not cancelled, despite the timing coinciding with the Super Bowl. Naoyuki Yanagisawa, who attended the concert with his daughter, shared his initial worries about the concerts being cancelled but expressed gratitude that Swift prioritized Tokyo over Las Vegas.

Brandon Koltes, another concert-goer, viewed the possibility of Swift attending the Super Bowl as an exciting opportunity, noting the happy relationship between Swift and Kelce. He speculated that if Swift made it to Vegas, it would be a fun experience for them to celebrate a potential Chiefs win together.

In addition to fan speculation, online sportsbooks began offering novelty bets related to Swift’s potential presence at the Super Bowl. One particularly bold wager offered by FanDuel Canada allows people to bet on whether Kelce will propose to Swift at the game. As the Super Bowl approached, the odds for this bet were split at 70% yes and 30% no.
