Netflix has released the first look at its upcoming South Korean disaster film, The Great Flood. The gripping teaser comes just ahead of its world premiere at the 30th Busan International Film Festival.
The one-and-a-half-minute preview introduces An-Na, an artificial intelligence researcher played by Kim Da-mi. Her ordinary morning with her son quickly turns into chaos when a catastrophic flood submerges the world.
As water levels rise, their struggle for survival begins inside a sinking apartment building.
The teaser also hints at a deeper storyline. A member of a security team arrives with a secret mission for An-Na. She must not only protect her child but also safeguard the future of humanity. This blend of personal survival and global stakes adds to the tension.
According to the official synopsis, the film takes place on Earth’s final day. Only a small number of survivors remain as the flood engulfs everything in sight. The teaser showcases both intimate emotional moments and large-scale disaster visuals.
The Great Flood is directed and co-written by Kim Byung-woo. Alongside Kim Da-mi, the cast includes Park Hae-soo, Kim Kyu-na, Kim Byung-nam, Lee Dong-chan, and Kim Su-kyung.
The disaster thriller is scheduled to premiere on September 18 at the Busan International Film Festival under the “Korean Cinema Today – Special Premiere” section.
