The acclaimed actor was best known for his portrayal of Iceman in the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun and as Batman/Bruce Wayne in Batman Forever (1995). He also gained recognition for playing Jim Morrison in The Doors.

During his cancer treatment, Kilmer underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and a tracheostomy, a procedure that created an opening in his neck to aid in breathing. He also relied on a feeding tube for nutrition.

In the Amazon Prime documentary Val, Kilmer openly discussed his cancer battle, recalling how he first realized something was wrong when he coughed up coagulated blood before losing consciousness and seeking medical attention.

“I obviously am sounding much worse than I feel. I can’t speak without plugging this hole,” he shared.

Beyond his acting career, Kilmer was known for high-profile relationships, including his marriage to Joanne Whalley, with whom he had two children. Over the years, he was also romantically linked to Cher, Cindy Crawford, Angelina Jolie, and Daryl Hannah.
