Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Faces Backlash After Complaint From Christian Group

Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Faces Backlash After Complaint From Christian Group

Yash’s upcoming pan-India film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has sparked new controversy. The action drama is facing objections over scenes shown in its teaser.

Earlier, Toxic received criticism for a graphic scene in the teaser. Now, the National Christian Federation has raised concerns about content that it claims hurts religious sentiments.

The group has filed a formal complaint with the Central Board of Film Certification. It has also approached the Film Chamber of Commerce and senior state officials, including the Chief Secretary and Home Secretary.

According to the complaint, certain scenes in the Toxic teaser are inappropriate. The teaser reportedly shows a sex sequence inside a car parked outside a cemetery. It is followed by a violent gunfight within the cemetery grounds.

The Federation stated that the location includes Christian religious symbols. It specifically mentioned a statue of Archangel Michael. The group believes the depiction is disrespectful and offensive to Christian beliefs.

In its representation, the organization demanded immediate removal of the scenes. It also urged KVN Productions to take down the Toxic teaser from YouTube and other digital platforms.

The filmmakers have not yet issued a public response to the complaint. The Central Board of Film Certification is expected to review the matter. Officials may decide if changes are required before the film’s release.

Directed by Geethu Mohandas, Toxic features a strong ensemble cast. It includes Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi, and Sudev Nair.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release on March 19. As the debate continues, industry observers are watching closely to see how authorities handle the objections.

The controversy highlights ongoing challenges faced by filmmakers in balancing creative expression with religious sensitivity. The final decision on the disputed scenes may impact the film’s promotional campaign and release plans.
