Multan Sultans Dominate Lahore Qalandars in PSL 9 Match 14

PSL 9

In the 14th match of Pakistan Super League, Season 9, Multan Sultans secured a convincing victory over Lahore Qalandars by 60 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Winning the toss, Multan Sultans elected to bat first. Mohammad Rizwan and Reeza Hendricks commenced the innings, facing Shaheen Shah Afridi’s deliveries. Unfortunately, Rizwan departed for a duck early in the first over. However, Hendricks retaliated, striking two boundaries off Shaheen’s second over. The powerplay ended with Multan Sultans at 53-1, largely due to Hendricks’ 34-run contribution.

The Sultans continued their momentum with Usman Khan’s aggressive batting, reaching a commendable 94-2 at the halfway mark, with Usman reaching his half-century in the 12th over. Their brisk run rate propelled them to 151-3 after 15 overs, with Iftikhar Ahmed showcasing power-hitting prowess.

Despite a brief scare when Iftikhar was hit on the head, he bounced back to contribute crucial runs. Usman Khan’s brilliant knock of 96 off Shaheen Afridi’s bowling guided Multan Sultans to a formidable total of 214-4.

In response, Lahore Qalandars commenced their innings positively, with Sahibzada Farhan displaying impressive form. However, Multan’s bowlers, particularly Aftab Ibrahim and Faisal Akram, struck at regular intervals, denting Qalandars’ chase.

Faisal Akram’s exceptional bowling performance, securing two vital wickets, and Usama Mir’s five-wicket haul dismantled Lahore Qalandars’ batting line-up. Despite Rassie van der Dussen’s efforts, Lahore Qalandars fell short, managing only 154 runs.

Usman Khan’s stellar batting performance earned him the Player of the Match award, contributing significantly to Multan Sultans’ victory.
