KARACHI โ Karachi police have arrested key drug dealers during a recent intelligence-led operation, seizing more than five kilograms of hashish. Police also recovered weapons, including a rifle, a sub-machine gun, and a 9mm pistol.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SIU, Dr. Imran, identified the main suspect, Noman, as a significant local and international drug peddler. He operates a narcotics network from a housing society near Super Highway. SSP Imran also named Asif as a major drug supplier. According to police, Asif is a government employee working at a local court in Karachiโs South district.
Police reported that Noman visited Baloch Colony to purchase drugs from Asif when the raid took place. Both suspects were present in the vehicle at the time of arrest. Following the operation, both arrested drug dealers were transferred to the SIU for further legal proceedings.
The arrests come amid heightened law enforcement efforts to curb narcotics trafficking in Karachi. SSP Imran emphasized that these arrests target organized networks of drug dealers who threaten public safety.
In a related development, intelligence agencies and law enforcement authorities thwarted a major terrorist plot in Karachi earlier today. The operation led to the recovery of over two tonnes of highly explosive material. Additional Inspector General of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Zulfiqar Larik and Deputy Inspector General Ghulam Azfar Mahesar confirmed that the operation was based on verified intelligence. It was carried out carefully to prevent public panic.
