Government agencies in Sharjah shifted to a three-day weekend in January 2022, giving staff Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays off, to give workers an extended weekend.

Employees will have a longer vacation from July 20 to July 23 due to the Hijri New Year holiday falling on a Thursday. On Monday, July 24, the regular working hours will start up again.

Prior to the 1445 Hijri holiday, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) circulated a notice to all federal departments and ministries in the UAE. This festival falls on the first day of Muharram in the Islamic calendar.

Additionally, federal personnel will not be in the office on Friday, July 21, in order to observe the Hijri New Year.

The choice is in accordance with the Cabinet Resolution on national holidays for the public and private sectors for 2023.
