Pakistan Recalls Ambassador to Iran and Takes Action After Airspace Violation

Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) has declared the recall of its ambassador to Iran in response to what it termed an “unprovoked violation of its airspace” by Tehran.

The FO asserted that Iran’s actions last night constitute a breach of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. Pakistan reserved the right to respond to this illegal act, with the statement emphasizing that the responsibility for the consequences would squarely lie with Iran.

The Pakistani government has conveyed its decision to recall its ambassador to the Iranian authorities, and the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, currently in Iran, has been instructed not to return for the time being. Additionally, Pakistan has opted to suspend all ongoing or planned high-level visits between the two countries in the coming days.

The FO’s announcement came after midnight, following Iranian strikes in Pakistani territory that resulted in the tragic deaths of two innocent children and injuries to three girls, according to a statement by the FO and reports from Iranian state media. The attack occurred in the border town of Panjgur in Balochistan.
