A troubling incident unfolded aboard the Shalimar Express as a young girl was abducted during a train journey from Faisalabad to Karachi, after her family was allegedly drugged by a group that included both men and a woman.
According to reports, the kidnapping took place when fellow passengers offered lassi to the girl’s family. Shagufta Bibi, the victim’s mother, said she was traveling with her three children and accepted the drink from the group as the train neared Sukkur.

Soon after consuming the lassi, Shagufta and her older daughter lost consciousness. She awoke near Karachi’s Landhi Station, only to find that her younger daughter, Inaya, had vanished along with the passengers who had shared their compartment.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed at Karachi Cantt Railway Police Station, but despite four days passing, there has been no significant development in the search for the missing child. The family voiced their disappointment over the lack of progress and urged authorities to intensify efforts to locate Inaya.
This alarming case comes on the heels of a similar incident in Gharo, Thatta, where a 7-year-old girl was abducted while playing outside her house. CCTV footage of that kidnapping sparked a police search operation. SSP Thatta, Dr. Imran Niazi, directed law enforcement to closely monitor all district exit points.
The recurrence of such child abduction cases has raised grave concerns about safety on public transportation and the effectiveness of police response in such emergencies. Citizens are increasingly calling for stricter security protocols and quicker action from authorities in protecting vulnerable children.
