The federal government has cleared 11,695 pending net-metering applications across Pakistan.
The move follows special instructions from Federal Minister for Power Division Awais Leghari.
According to the Power Division, thousands of applications were awaiting processing during changes to the country’s solar electricity system.
A total of 16,654 applications remained pending during the transition from net metering to net billing.
Authorities have now cleared 11,695 of these Solar Cases. Verification of the remaining applications is still underway.
Applicants to Receive Direct Updates
The Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC) has started contacting applicants whose cases have been processed.
Applicants will receive updates through text messages, WhatsApp, and other digital communication channels. Consumers can also check the status of their applications through the relevant online portal.
The government said direct communication will make the process clearer for consumers. Officials have also warned applicants against paying anyone to speed up their applications.
Consumers should avoid agents or other third parties claiming they can secure faster approvals.
The government says direct updates are intended to protect applicants from unnecessary third-party involvement.
Verification of Remaining Solar Cases Continues
Authorities are still reviewing 4,959 applications under the applicable rules.
The verification process aims to protect legitimate consumers while preventing illegal electricity connections.
Awais Leghari has instructed officials to complete the remaining reviews without unnecessary delays. He has also directed authorities to provide applicants with clear information about their application status.
The remaining Solar Cases will be processed after authorities complete the required verification procedures.
Government Reaffirms Support for Solar Energy
The Power Division said the government remains committed to supporting solar and other renewable energy sources.
At the same time, authorities want to maintain a transparent and sustainable electricity system. Pakistan has seen growing consumer interest in rooftop solar systems in recent years.
Changes to solar electricity policies can therefore affect a significant number of households and businesses. The clearance of 11,695 applications provides progress for consumers who were waiting during the transition period.
However, nearly 5,000 applications still require verification before their status can be finalized. The government says officials have been instructed to complete this process quickly.
Applicants with pending Solar Cases should rely on official communication and the relevant portal for updates.
