13 Pakistani Nationals Arrested in Saudi Arabia for Sheep Theft

TAIF โ€“ Saudi authorities have detained 13 Pakistani nationals in Taif, a city in the Makkah province, for their alleged involvement in livestock theft. According to official reports, the group is suspected of stealing sheep from different areas over an extended period.

Police said the arrested individuals were linked to multiple incidents reported by residents in recent weeks. The suspects were taken into custody after a targeted operation. Officials confirmed that all legal procedures were completed soon after their arrest. The 13 Pakistani nationals have now been transferred to the prosecution for further investigation and trial under Saudi law.

Authorities believe the group may have carried out several thefts before being caught. The case is now under detailed review, and further developments will be shared after the prosecution completes its inquiry.

This incident comes at a time when concerns about criminal activities involving foreign workers have been rising in the region. Earlier this year, new statistics revealed a significant number of deportations involving Pakistani nationals.

In May 2025, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi informed the National Assembly about the rising number of deportation cases. In his written reply, he stated that Saudi Arabia had deported 5,033 Pakistani beggars since January 2024. Additionally, 369 Pakistanis were arrested for begging in five other countries during the same period.

The official data also showed that a total of 5,402 Pakistanis were deported from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These deportations were linked to various violations, including illegal entry, expired visas, and involvement in unlawful activities.

The recent arrest of the 13 Pakistani nationals in Taif has once again highlighted the importance of legal compliance and adherence to local regulations for all foreign workers living in the kingdom. As the case proceeds, authorities are expected to provide more updates on the investigation and possible charges.
