According to the police, a group of laborers was in the process of installing reinforced cement concrete (RCC) roofs on a three-storey building situated on a 40-square-yard plot when the structure collapsed.
The Association of Builders and Developers (Abad) has characterized the building as “unauthorized” and has urged the government to take action against those responsible, including builders and contractors.
In response to the incident, Chief Minister Baqar expressed strong dissatisfaction and issued orders for the suspension of several officials from the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), including Director Syed Muhammad Zia, Assistant Director Waseem Raja Thaheem, Senior Building Inspector Tanveer Khan, and Building Inspector Khurram Rizwan.

The minister made a firm commitment that such constructions would not be tolerated due to the potential risks they pose to people’s lives.
Additionally, following the chief minister’s directives, the SBCA has formed a comprehensive inquiry committee to investigate the building collapse. This committee has been tasked with examining the status of the building plan approval and the construction timeline for the plot. It will also investigate the roles played by any negligent SBCA officers and other relevant authorities or agencies.
Furthermore, the chief minister has directed the committee to submit its inquiry report within 48 hour.
