Over 300 Goats Killed in Trailer Accident Near Nawabshah Toll Plaza

NAWABSHAH โ€“ At least 300 goats killed and five people injured after a livestock-laden trailer overturned near the Qazi Ahmed toll plaza in Nawabshah district.

The trailer, travelling from Hyderabad to Punjab, met with an accident on the National Highway. Motorway Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and began relief operations immediately. The incident also partially disrupted traffic flow on the highway.

The injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Qazi Ahmed for medical treatment, according to Motorway Police officials. Authorities confirmed that the goats killed were part of a livestock consignment being transported to markets in Punjab.

This accident highlights the risks involved in transporting livestock over long distances. Trailer overturns often result in significant losses, both for the animals and the transporters. In this case, more than 300 goats killed represents a major financial loss for the traders.

In a related incident last year, a truck carrying sacrificial goats for Eidul Adha was hijacked by armed robbers near Karachiโ€™s Kamran Chowrangi. According to a merchant, four robbers on two motorcycles took the truck driver hostage and looted the consignment, which was valued at approximately Rs1.5 million.

Authorities urged drivers to exercise caution while transporting livestock, especially on busy highways. They also emphasized the importance of road safety measures to prevent further accidents that could harm animals and humans alike.

Rescue teams continue to work on clearing the site and restoring normal traffic flow. Officials said investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing. Local traders expressed concerns about the safety of transporting animals, especially during peak travel seasons and festival periods.
