LAKKI MARWAT โ At least six police personnel, including a station house officer (SHO), were martyred in a deadly Lakki Marwat blast, officials confirmed.
The explosion targeted a police vehicle on routine patrol in the area, causing heavy casualties among law enforcement personnel. The district police officer (DPO) said the blast struck near the vehicle, resulting in significant damage.
Among the martyrs were SHO Sadar Azam, Constable Shah Bahram, and Constable Shah Khalid. Other officers who lost their lives include Constable Haji Muhammad, Constable Gulzada, and Constable Sakhi Zada. One officer, Constable Insafuddin, was injured and is receiving medical care.
Authorities described the incident as a targeted attack on the police force. Security agencies have launched an investigation to determine the origin of the explosion and identify those responsible. The attack underscores ongoing security challenges faced by police personnel in the region.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the Lakki Marwat blast, expressing deep sorrow and condolences to the families of the martyred officers. He praised the bravery of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, stating that their sacrifices are the pride of the nation and will always be remembered.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also took notice of the incident and requested a detailed report from the inspector general of police. The CM expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs and directed authorities to ensure the best medical care for the injured. Afridi emphasized that acts of terrorism cannot demoralize the nation or its security forces.
