Abbottabad district authorities sealed a school on Wednesday after it was found operating during the official winter vacation period.
The action was taken under the orders of Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram. Assistant Commissioner Afrasiab Zubair Hindal personally oversaw the operation to ensure compliance.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had issued a zone-based winter vacation schedule for all public and private schools. Schools in the summer zone, including plains and lower-altitude areas, are required to close from January 1 to January 15, 2026. Meanwhile, institutions in the winter zone, covering hilly and snowfall-prone districts, observe holidays from December 22, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
Authorities warned that any school violating the official closure period will face strict measures. Citizens are encouraged to report such violations to help enforce the rules.
This incident marks the district administrationโs strict approach to ensuring schools comply with government directives. Officials emphasized that maintaining the winter break is important for student safety and staff planning.
In a related move, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government recently mandated fitness certificates for all private school buses. The Transport Department warned that any school buses operating without valid fitness certificates could have their registration suspended.
The authorities highlighted that unfit buses not only endanger students but also contribute to traffic congestion and poor road management. Schools have been instructed to comply immediately to ensure safety and smooth traffic operations.
With this action, the Abbottabad administration demonstrates a zero-tolerance approach. Officials reiterated that failure to follow winter vacation orders or safety regulations could result in the school sealed permanently, along with other penalties.
Parents and students are urged to remain aware of official schedules and regulations. The move reinforces the governmentโs commitment to student safety, regulatory compliance, and orderly functioning of educational institutions.
