Aleema Khan Alleges Withdrawal of Jail Privileges for Imran Khan

Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has claimed that all jail privileges for the former prime minister have been withdrawn at Adiala Jail, where he remains incarcerated. Speaking to the media outside an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi on Thursday, she said her brother is being denied basic rights, including access to books and contact with his children.

Aleema compared Imran Khan’s current treatment with the preferential conditions allegedly provided to PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz during their imprisonment, such as stays in rest houses. She criticized the Punjab government, led by the PML-N, for what she called a targeted campaign to unseat 26 PTI lawmakers from the Punjab Assembly.

She also announced that Imran Khan has instructed the party to launch a new movement after the 10th of Muharram, indicating that PTI plans to intensify its political activities despite the legal and institutional pressures it currently faces.

These developments come shortly after the Lahore High Court rejected Khan’s post-arrest bail petitions in eight separate cases tied to the May 9 riots. These include the attacks on Jinnah House, Askari Tower, and Shadman Police Station. A division bench of the court, headed by Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi, upheld the earlier decision of an anti-terrorism court that had dismissed the bail pleas.
