Ambreen Jan Appointed As The New Secretary Of Information

The federal government announced the appointment of Ambreen Jan as the new Secretary of Information and Broadcasting on Friday.

According to the notification, “Ms. Ambreen Jan, a BS-21 officer of the Information Group, currently serving as Executive Director General of the External Publicity (EP) Wing in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is now transferred and appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1971, effective immediately and until further notice.”

Jan succeeds Shahira Shahid, who retired from the position on July 25. Other candidates considered for the post included Sayyed Mubashar Tauqir Shah, Arshad Munir, and Shamoon Hashmi, all of whom were interviewed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before the final decision.
