Karachi police are investigating an armed robbery at a local barber shop after CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media. The video shows a lone robber entering the shop while brandishing a pistol.
Customers and barbers immediately sat down in fear as the man ordered them to comply. He then proceeded to pat down each person individually, taking their mobile phones and cash before fleeing the scene. Authorities suspect the robber had an accomplice waiting outside on a motorcycle.
Law enforcement officials have launched a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the barber shop robbery. Police are reviewing additional surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to gather more evidence.
The incident comes amid ongoing efforts by Karachi police to combat extortion and violent crimes. Earlier, on November 26, authorities arrested a driver, Dawood Khan, who allegedly demanded Rs8 million in extortion from his employer in the Malir Cantt area. Khan reportedly threatened to kill his employer if the payment was not made. Police tracked him using technological tools and arrested him successfully.
During interrogation, Dawood Khan admitted to the extortion attempt. Officials stated that his arrest highlights continued police efforts to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent criminal activities in the city. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether he had any accomplices.
Residents have expressed concern over the increasing number of robberies at small businesses, including barber shops, where security is often minimal. Authorities have urged citizens and business owners to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.
The police have assured the public that enhanced measures are being taken to prevent similar incidents and to maintain safety in local commercial areas. The investigation into the barber shop robbery is ongoing, with officers working to bring the culprits to justice.
