A new wave of monsoon rainfall has triggered a series of tragic events across various cities in Punjab, leaving at least seven people dead and multiple others injured.
The fatalities occurred due to incidents such as lightning strikes, flash floods, and the collapse of poorly built roofs. Lahore, despite experiencing heavy downpours, reported no loss of life.

Jhelum: In Bada Gawah, an overflowing storm drain caused a loader vehicle to overturn. A rickshaw was swept away by the floodwaters, leading to the drowning of two individuals, while six others were successfully rescued.
Chunian: In the Talwandi area, a house roof gave way amid persistent rainfall. Two young girls lost their lives after being trapped under the debris. Their bodies were recovered and shifted to a nearby hospital by rescue workers.
Bahawalnagar: A mud-constructed house collapsed due to the rain, killing a 4-year-old child. The incident took place in a remote village, and emergency services were quick to respond.
Okara: In Bangla Gogira, a roof fell on a group of girls who were studying. One girl died, and two others sustained injuries. In another case, a man suffered burns after being hit by a lightning bolt.
Mian Channu: A young man lost his life and another was hurt when lightning struck Barkat Chowk Bagh during the rain. The injured person is under medical care at a local facility.
Chiniot: Near Jhang Road, a verandah roof collapsed due to prolonged exposure to rainwater, injuring four people who were transported to the hospital.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), this monsoon spell is expected to last until July 1. Authorities have advised heightened vigilance in high-risk areas.
