RAWALPINDI – The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has ordered the seizure of Aleema Khan’s bail bonds in a case linked to the November 26 protest. The decision came after she failed to appear before the court despite repeated notices.
During the hearing, the ATC judge took up the case filed against Aleema Khan and 11 other individuals. They are accused of participating in a protest held on November 26. However, neither Aleema Khan nor her legal team attended the proceedings. The ATC noted her absence and reviewed the prosecution’s request for action.
The court responded by issuing bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan. It also issued notices for the cancellation of her bail due to her failure to follow court instructions. In addition, the judge issued a contempt of court notice, highlighting her repeated non-compliance.
The prosecution argued that Aleema Khan had given an assurance that she would appear at every hearing. They stated that failing to show up violated the terms of her bail. The prosecution then asked the ATC to confiscate her bail bonds as a legal consequence of this violation.
After reviewing the arguments, the ATC accepted the request. The court ordered the seizure of two bail bonds, each valued at Rs1 million. This means a total of Rs2 million in bail bonds will now be confiscated due to her absence.
The ATC then adjourned the hearing until December 15, giving the accused another chance to appear. The court also instructed that all notices and warrants be delivered promptly to ensure compliance in the next hearing.
