Atlas Honda May Introduce 250cc and 500cc Motorcycles in Pakistan

Honda could soon expand its motorcycle lineup in Pakistan by introducing premium 250cc and 500cc bikes. The company signaled the possibility during its MY26 corporate briefing, saying it is closely monitoring demand for higher-engine motorcycles.

According to company management, growing interest in premium motorcycles has encouraged Atlas Honda to consider entering a new market segment. Officials said stronger sales of larger-engine bikes, supported partly by increased overseas remittances, have created opportunities for product expansion.

The company explained that consumer demand for motorcycles with higher engine capacities has increased in recent years. As a result, Atlas Honda is evaluating the launch of 250cc and 500cc models alongside its existing product range.

During the briefing, management also shared details about the companyโ€™s production expansion plans. Atlas Honda currently has an annual production capacity of 1.65 million motorcycles. This capacity is expected to increase to 2 million units per year after an ongoing expansion project is completed by December 2026.

Officials said the expansion project involves an estimated capital investment of Rs. 5 to 6 billion. The additional production capacity is expected to help the company meet growing market demand in the coming years.

Management also revealed that the company is currently producing more motorcycles than its official rated capacity. It has managed to achieve this through overtime production and support from its network of vendors.

According to the company, Pakistanโ€™s overall two-wheeler market has recovered to around 2.3 million units. This recovery reflects improving demand across the motorcycle industry after a challenging period.

The briefing also highlighted changing market trends. Officials said motorcycles with engine capacities above 100cc are becoming more popular as customer preferences continue to evolve. At the same time, sales of Chinese motorcycle brands have declined significantly from their previous peak.

Atlas Honda believes improving economic conditions and stronger purchasing power have contributed to the shift toward larger motorcycles. The company remains optimistic that rising farm incomes will also support motorcycle demand in the future.

The company also discussed its plans regarding electric vehicles. Management said no additional investment is currently planned for electric motorcycle production because existing facilities are considered sufficient to meet expected demand.

Officials further noted that Atlas Honda has not increased motorcycle prices during the past three years, except for adjustments linked to government taxes and levies. The company said it remains focused on maintaining stable pricing while expanding production capacity.

If market demand continues to rise, the introduction of premium Honda motorcycles could mark a significant expansion for the company in Pakistan. The move would allow Atlas Honda to compete in the growing higher-displacement motorcycle segment while offering customers more choices beyond its traditional models.
