Azad Kashmir has set a new tourism record in 2025, welcoming over 1.5 million visitors this year. Officials from the Department of Tourism and Archaeology confirmed the figures, highlighting a significant increase compared to previous years.
Known for its green mountains, dense forests, waterfalls, flowing rivers, and historic sites, Azad Kashmir continues to attract both domestic and international tourists. The region is often called a “paradise on earth” because of its natural beauty and pleasant climate.
Tourists visited both the plain and mountainous areas of Azad Kashmir throughout the year. Authorities expect the number of visitors to grow further by mid-2026, as new destinations are being developed to promote sustainable tourism.
Chaudhry Mehrban, Director General of Tourism and Archaeology, said winter attracts adventure lovers to the snow-covered regions. Valleys such as Leepa, Neelum Valley, and peaks like Ganga Choti remain the most popular spots for visitors seeking snow and adventure.
The rise in tourism has also boosted local employment. Hotels, transport services, tour operators, and small businesses have all benefited from the increasing number of visitors. Officials said this growth is helping strengthen the region’s economy.
Authorities emphasized that work is underway to improve infrastructure and tourist facilities. These improvements aim to provide a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable environment for visitors. Enhanced amenities are expected to further strengthen the tourism sector of Azad Kashmir.
Officials also highlighted the importance of promoting eco-friendly tourism. They said maintaining the region’s natural beauty is a priority while accommodating the growing number of tourists.
