MANSEHRA: Kaghan Valley experienced a sudden winter-like change on Saturday. Babusar Top received the first snowfall of the season.
Rain and snowfall were also reported in several other high-altitude areas. The weather change brought cooler conditions across parts of Hazara Division.
The region had faced intense heat for almost two weeks. The arrival of rain and snow provided relief from the prolonged hot weather.
Temperatures dropped sharply across the valley following the weather change. Many residents brought out sweaters, shawls and other warm clothes.
Tourists traveling towards Gilgit-Baltistan also witnessed the snowfall. They were traveling along the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road when the weather turned colder.
The snowfall at Babusar Top surprised both tourists and local residents. Locals said such weather conditions have become less common during this period.
They noted that snowfall in recent years has increasingly shifted towards November. The early snowfall this year has therefore caught many people by surprise.
Roads Remain Open
Despite the snowfall and rainfall, local authorities reported that major roads remain open. The routes connecting Balakot, Mansehra, Naran and Jalkhad are currently accessible.
The Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road is an important route for tourists traveling towards northern areas. Weather conditions can affect travel on the route during the colder months.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation in high-altitude areas. Travelers are expected to remain cautious as weather conditions can change quickly.
Rainfall Reported Across Hazara
Rain was also recorded in several districts across the region. These included Mansehra, Torghar, Kolai-Palas and Upper Kohistan.
Lower Kohistan also received rainfall during the weather spell. The rain helped reduce temperatures after days of persistent heat.
However, the weather also caused a temporary disruption in one area. An electricity transmission pole was uprooted during the weather.
The fallen pole blocked traffic for several hours. The incident added to the challenges caused by the sudden weather change.
The snowfall at Babusar Top marks an early shift towards colder conditions in the upper Kaghan Valley. The area usually attracts visitors because of its mountain scenery and high-altitude landscape.
