The Balochistan government has invited applications for overseas scholarships for talented young students.

The initiative will provide opportunities to study and conduct research at leading international universities.

The PhD Scholarships will be offered through the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund. Under the programme, 10 students from Balochistan will receive scholarships each year.

The initiative aims to improve access to advanced education and international research opportunities.

Selected scholars will have opportunities at more than 100 leading universities worldwide.

Students Already Studying at Leading Universities

The programme has already helped six students from Balochistan secure admission to prominent international universities.

These include the University of Leeds and the University of Copenhagen.

Students have also secured places at the University of Alberta and University of Queensland. Other institutions include the University of Bristol and Universiti Malaya.

The scholars are studying a wide range of academic subjects. These include molecular and cell biology, food safety, agriculture and structural engineering.

Other fields include politics, international studies and gender studies.

The overseas PhD Scholarships are expected to create similar opportunities for more students from the province.

Chief Minister Welcomes Scholarship Expansion

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti welcomed the expansion of the scholarship programme.

He said the initiative would provide better educational opportunities for talented young people. Bugti said the government wants to connect promising students with leading universities worldwide.

The programme is also designed to help students compete at the international level. He described investment in education as an investment in Balochistan’s future.

According to Bugti, higher education can support research, development and long-term progress across the province.

Government Focuses on Education and Youth

The chief minister also linked educational opportunities with efforts to build a more peaceful future.

He said improved education and greater opportunities for young people could help counter terrorism. The government wants students to gain skills and knowledge from leading academic institutions.

Officials hope these scholars will later contribute to Balochistan’s social and economic development. The PhD Scholarships will also allow students to represent the province within the global academic community.

The programme reflects the provincial government’s broader focus on developing skilled and educated young people.

Through international education and research opportunities, the government aims to strengthen Balochistan’s human capital.
