Authorities have announced a ban imposed on the use of all high-intensity vehicle lights in Peshawar. This includes laser lights, modified headlights, and high-beam headlights.
The move comes after studies showed that bright lights are a major cause of road accidents at night. Officials said glare from high-intensity lights can impair the vision of drivers and pedestrians, posing serious risks to human life.
The ban imposed also covers the sale and purchase of high-beam lights. Authorities warned that anyone violating the regulation will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The decision aims to make roads safer and reduce night-time accidents caused by blinding lights.
In a related incident, a tragic road accident occurred on Friday in the Lower Mohmand tribal district. A Toyota Fielder, traveling from Ambar to Yekah Ghand, lost control on a sharp curve and plunged into a deep ravine. Six people died, and one person survived.
Rescue teams said three victims died instantly at the scene. The injured passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, three more individuals passed away from their injuries. The victimsโ bodies were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Ghazni for post-mortem and formalities.
The deceased were identified as Wazir Khan, Zardol, Zahir Gul, Mir Alam, Ghulam Saeed, and Noor Bashar. The only survivor, Gul Badshah, is receiving treatment and is in stable condition.
Officials stressed that the ban imposed on high-intensity lights is part of a broader road safety campaign. Residents are urged to follow traffic regulations and report any vehicles using prohibited lights. Authorities hope the measure will prevent accidents and save lives across the region.
