A brutal terrorist attack rocked the New Sabzi Mandi area of Bannu, where militants targeted a police checkpost, leaving two police officers martyred and another injured. The assault began with a powerful explosion at the main gate, followed by intense gunfire as the attackers stormed the premises.
According to police officials, the blast completely destroyed the entrance of the checkpost and triggered a major power outage after a nearby transformer collapsed due to the shockwave. The sudden blackout plunged the entire market area into darkness, further complicating response efforts.

Eyewitnesses reported scenes of chaos as shops surrounding the checkpost also sustained damage. Glass panels and signboards were shattered, while the interior of the checkpost bore the brunt of the attack’s destructive force.
Security forces quickly arrived at the scene and launched a search operation to trace the attackers. The incident has raised fresh concerns about the security situation in Bannu and the safety of frontline law enforcement personnel in high-risk areas.
