Bilawal Bhutto Calls for National Assembly Debate on New Provinces

LONDON: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called for a debate on new provinces in Parliament.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists in London on Wednesday.

The PPP chairman was responding to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqviโ€™s comments about the systemโ€™s alleged failure.

Bilawal Bhutto said Naqvi was expressing his own views about the situation. He added that he was also presenting his own opinion.

He criticised the interior ministerโ€™s limited attendance in National Assembly sessions. Bilawal said Naqvi should attend parliamentary proceedings more regularly.

The PPP chairman also discussed the demand for creating new provinces in Pakistan. He said new provinces would not solve the countryโ€™s major economic problems.

According to Bilawal Bhutto, democracy and public empowerment are needed to address inflation. He also linked these measures with tackling unemployment and poverty.

He said he was prepared to debate the issue with any federal minister. The discussion, he added, should take place on the National Assembly floor.

Bilawal calls for parliamentary debate

Bilawal Bhutto said the question of new provinces should be discussed in Parliament.

He stressed that elected representatives must have a meaningful role in the debate. He also said the views of the people should be considered.

The PPP chairman maintained that major decisions about the country should not be made by a small group.

He said Pakistanโ€™s future should not be placed in the hands of a few businessmen.

Bilawal also highlighted the importance of democratic institutions. He said stronger democracy could help address Pakistanโ€™s economic and social challenges.

He called for greater public participation in national decision-making. According to him, people must have a stronger voice in matters affecting their future.

Debate over new provinces continues

The issue of new provinces has remained a subject of political discussion in Pakistan.

Different political leaders have expressed varying positions on the matter. Some have supported administrative changes and new provinces.

Others have raised concerns about their political and constitutional implications.

Bilawal Bhutto has argued that creating new provinces is not a direct solution to inflation or unemployment.

He instead stressed democratic reforms and greater public empowerment.

He also urged political leaders to bring the issue before Parliament. This would allow elected representatives to debate the proposal openly.

The PPP chairmanโ€™s remarks come as discussions over new provinces continue among political circles.

He reiterated that Parliament should provide a platform for such debates. He also called for public opinion to receive proper consideration.

The PPP leader said democratic participation remains important for resolving Pakistanโ€™s wider challenges.
