Police in Mandra arrested a bride for aerial fire during her wedding ceremony, while the groom managed to escape. The incident gained attention after a video went viral on social media.
According to police, the bride, identified as Sana Shabbir, was seen firing a pistol during the celebration. Authorities received a tip-off and quickly took action after confirming the video’s authenticity.
A police team raided her residence in the Gordha area and recovered a 30-bore pistol. They also seized five shell casings and four live rounds from the location. The recovered items were taken into custody for further investigation.
The groom, Shehryar Ali, fled the scene as soon as police arrived. Officials said he is currently on the run, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest him.
During initial questioning, the bride admitted to the aerial fire but claimed that the weapon belonged to her husband. However, she failed to provide a valid license for the firearm. This raised further legal concerns regarding possession of an unregistered weapon.
Police have registered a case against the couple for aerial fire, illegal possession of a firearm, and other related charges. The case is being handled under the supervision of ASI Wasim.
Authorities confirmed that the seized pistol, bullets, and shell casings have been sent to a laboratory in Lahore for forensic testing. The results will help determine further legal action.
Officials stated that aerial fire during celebrations poses serious risks to public safety. They urged citizens to avoid such practices and follow the law.
Police teams are continuing raids to arrest the groom. They expressed confidence that he will be apprehended soon as the investigation progresses.
