Cargo Plane operated by K2 Airways reportedly disappeared near Karachi after the crew informed Air Traffic Control (ATC) about a navigation-related issue during its flight from Sharjah to Pakistan. Rescue teams have launched a major search operation in the Arabian Sea, while officials continue to assess the situation.
The aircraft was operating as K2 Airways Flight KTA-1732 on a scheduled cargo service between Sharjah and Karachi. According to aviation sources, the crew contacted ATC after experiencing problems with the aircraft’s navigation system while approaching Pakistani airspace.
The Cargo Plane reportedly lost communication with air traffic controllers around 300 kilometers west of Karachi. During the exchange, the pilots requested heading assistance because they were having difficulty with navigation. ATC reportedly instructed the crew to continue on their existing course.
Soon after the communication, flight tracking data indicated an unexpected change in the aircraft’s path. Reports suggest the plane made a sudden right turn before entering a rapid descent. The aircraft was said to be descending at nearly 15,000 feet per minute, raising fears of a serious in-flight emergency.
Air traffic controllers repeatedly attempted to contact the cockpit after the unusual flight movements. However, no further response was received. The aircraft later disappeared from radar, leading to reports that it may have gone down in the Arabian Sea. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed that the aircraft crashed.
The Pakistan Airport Authority identified the aircraft as a Boeing 737-400 freighter with registration AP-BOI. It was operating the cargo flight from Sharjah to Karachi when the incident occurred.
A large-scale search operation has been launched to locate the missing aircraft. The Pakistan Navy has dispatched PNS Zulfiqar to the suspected area where contact was lost. The vessel is assisting with the maritime search effort.
The Pakistan Air Force has also joined the operation. A SAAB 2000 surveillance aircraft has been deployed to conduct aerial reconnaissance over the search zone. In addition, the Pakistan Navy has launched an ATR-72 maritime patrol aircraft to expand coverage across the Arabian Sea.
The coordinated search aims to locate the Cargo Plane and determine its exact position. Rescue teams are continuing operations despite the challenging conditions at sea.
Authorities are expected to begin a full investigation once more information becomes available. Investigators will examine radar records, flight tracking data, ATC recordings, and cockpit communications. These findings will help determine what caused the sudden loss of contact and the aircraft’s rapid descent.
