In a new hygiene directive, the Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has announced that chefs and waiters in all restaurants must wear caps while on duty. The move aims to improve cleanliness standards and ensure food safety across eateries in the capital.
Officials stated that the decision was made after multiple inspections revealed lapses in hygiene practices at several food outlets. The IFA emphasized that wearing caps will help prevent hair contamination in food and promote a more professional kitchen environment.
Restaurant owners have been instructed to strictly follow the new rule or face penalties. Food inspectors will carry out surprise visits to ensure compliance. Establishments found violating the policy may face fines, warnings, or temporary suspension of their licenses.
The Islamabad Food Authority has also urged restaurant staff to maintain personal hygiene and wear clean uniforms during working hours. The department is planning awareness sessions for restaurant managers to reinforce food safety practices.
Citizens have welcomed the move, saying it will help build trust in the city’s dining standards. Many customers have long raised concerns over hygiene, particularly in small and mid-range eateries.
The new rule marks another step in Islamabad’s efforts to meet international food safety benchmarks. With chefs and waiters in Islamabad restaurants required to wear caps, authorities hope to ensure safer, cleaner, and more reliable food service for all residents.
