A citizen has reportedly received e-challan for his motorcycle, which was stolen from Rizvia Society on December 22, 2025.
The owner filed an FIR immediately after the theft. However, police have yet to recover the stolen vehicle.
The case took a turn on January 5, 2026, when Safe City cameras spotted the motorcycle in Clifton Block 4. Despite clear footage, no action was taken to seize the vehicle or arrest suspects.
The e-challan issued to the owner shows a Rs5,000 fine for the pillion rider not wearing a helmet. The owner said he was shocked to receive e-challan, as the motorcycle has not been in his possession since the theft.
According to the citizen, the e-challan image clearly shows the face of one of the accused. He believes this could help authorities identify and arrest the thieves.
The incident highlights gaps in coordination between law enforcement and Safe City authorities. The stolen motorcycle is reportedly being used openly on city roads without fear of action.
The citizen has appealed to authorities to recover his motorcycle and take proper action against the suspects. He has also requested the withdrawal of the e-challan issued in error.
Officials have yet to comment on why the motorcycle was not seized after being spotted on camera. Citizens are concerned about the effectiveness of Safe City monitoring and coordination with police.
The case has sparked discussion on road safety enforcement, accountability, and the need to prevent innocent vehicle owners from being penalized.
The owner urges authorities to act promptly, recover his stolen motorcycle, and ensure that such administrative errors do not happen in the future.
