KARACHI โ Murad Ali Shah, CM Sindh , has approved Rs21.53 billion to improve Karachiโs road network and civic infrastructure. The allocation includes Rs13 billion specifically for road rehabilitation across the city.
The decision came during a meeting chaired by CM Sindh , attended by Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab. Mayor Wahab highlighted that 409 roads across the city require immediate attention due to poor conditions and frequent traffic disruptions.
Under the new road rehabilitation plan, around 400 roads in Karachiโs seven districts will receive patchwork repairs. Additionally, nine major roads will undergo full reconstruction to improve traffic flow and safety.
Combined infrastructure projects, including road works, sewerage upgrades, and water supply improvements, have been estimated at Rs12.57 billion. This is part of a broader effort to enhance the cityโs civic facilities and ensure sustainable urban development.
Furthermore, Rs8.53 billion have been approved for road-related infrastructure such as drains and streetlights. The KMC has been directed to prioritize the rehabilitation of 26 major roads to quickly address critical traffic and safety concerns.
CM Sindh emphasized that public safety and citizen convenience remain top priorities. He instructed authorities to ensure all projects are executed transparently, with high-quality standards, and on time. The Finance Department has also been ordered to release funds promptly to avoid delays.
In addition, financial support has been provided to 24 town municipal corporations to help implement local infrastructure improvements as part of the broader city-wide project.
Officials confirmed that the project will improve not only road conditions but also water, sewerage, and street safety systems, benefiting millions of residents. This initiative under CM Sindh โs leadership is seen as a major step toward modernizing Karachiโs infrastructure and addressing long-standing urban challenges.
