Gul Plaza Fire: Sindh CM Says Compensation Paid To 26 Families, Urges Against Politicising Tragedy

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah confirmed that compensation delivered to the families of Gul Plaza tragedy victims has been completed. Cheques worth Rs10 million each were handed directly to the homes of 26 families who lost loved ones in the incident.

Speaking to the media after launching an anti-polio campaign in Karachi, CM Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the government does not take the media along when visiting affected homes. He stated that such visits are private matters and should not be used for political point-scoring.

“It is not appropriate to visit people’s homes every day and seek media publicity,” the chief minister said. His remarks highlighted the focus on helping families rather than creating headlines.

The chief minister also provided updates on the inquiry into the Gul Plaza tragedy. He said the report has been received, and action has been taken against certain individuals. Additionally, a letter has been submitted to form a judicial commission to further investigate the incident.

CM Murad Ali Shah reassured citizens that compensation delivered to the victims’ families was done in a transparent and direct manner. He stated that this approach ensures families receive the aid they are entitled to without unnecessary delays or intermediaries.

On other political matters, the chief minister commented on Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman’s planned sit-in on the 14th. He urged Hafiz Naeem to contest elections and win rather than rely on protests. Murad Ali Shah also criticized him for not taking oath or vacating his assembly seat, saying political legitimacy comes through public mandate, not small sit-ins.

The chief minister further mentioned that the government will not allow traffic disruptions on major roads like Shahrah-e-Faisal. He added that local government elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have not been held either, suggesting that Hafiz Naeem should participate in those elections once conducted.

In conclusion, the Sindh government has ensured that compensation delivered to all affected families was timely and directly to their homes. This action underlines the administration’s commitment to supporting victims and preventing misuse of such sensitive matters.
