Dawlance Fined Rs40,000 As Court issues CEO Arrest Warrants Over Non-Compliance

Dawlance Fined Rs40,000 As Court issues CEO Arrest Warrants Over Non-Compliance

A consumer dispute involving a faulty refrigerator has led to serious legal action in Karachi. The case has now reached the stage where Arrest Warrants were issued after a company failed to follow court orders.

According to reports, the Consumer Protection Court ruled in favor of a citizen named Ali Raza. He purchased a refrigerator on 3 December 2021 from a local dealer. The product was sold with a claimed 12-year warranty.

However, the refrigerator stopped working on 8 January 2024. This happened just over two years after the purchase. The customer raised a complaint and requested warranty support.

The companyโ€™s representative later rejected the 12-year warranty claim. They stated that the product only had a one-year warranty. They also demanded Rs 9,900 for repairs, which led to a legal dispute.

After reviewing evidence and documents, the court issued its decision. It ordered the company to replace the faulty refrigerator with a new one. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 40,000.

Despite the ruling, the company reportedly did not comply with the court order. This non-compliance escalated the matter further. As a result, the court issued Arrest Warrants against the companyโ€™s Chief Executive Officer, Umar Ahsan Khan.

The Arrest Warrants were bailable and valued at Rs 10,000. They were directed to the Station House Officer of Civil Lines Police Station. The court instructed authorities to ensure execution by 7 May.

This case highlights growing consumer concerns in Pakistan. Many buyers report issues with warranty claims on electronic appliances. In several cases, companies are accused of delaying or denying service support.

Legal experts say such disputes are becoming more frequent. They stress the importance of clear warranty terms and proper enforcement of consumer rights.

The courtโ€™s decision, along with the issuance of Arrest Warrants, sends a strong message to companies. It emphasizes that consumer protection laws must be followed.

For now, the case remains under legal process. Authorities are expected to ensure compliance with the courtโ€™s order in the coming days.
