The Russian capital became a major hub of diplomatic activity as Pakistanโs Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held several high-level meetings, including a significant engagement with President Vladimir Putin. His visit centered on advancing regional ties and presenting Pakistanโs strong position at the SCO Council of Heads of Government.
During a key session, Ishaq Dar joined government leaders from all member states as they collectively met President Putin. The Russian president welcomed the delegations and stressed the importance of boosting regional economic cooperation under the SCO framework.
He highlighted the organizationโs expanding role in promoting stability, connectivity, and shared development across Eurasia, reaffirming Moscowโs commitment to keeping the SCO central in global diplomacy.
Dar also held bilateral talks with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk. The meeting covered major areas of Pakistan-Russia relations, including political engagement, energy cooperation, trade routes, agriculture, industry, and educational exchanges.
Both sides praised the growing momentum in ties, with Overchuk acknowledging Pakistanโs rising importance as a regional transit and connectivity hub. He said Russia is committed to advancing joint infrastructure projects that could reshape regional commerce.
Global and regional developments were also reviewed in the meeting, with both leaders agreeing to enhance collaboration at international platforms such as the United Nations and the SCO Council.
Speaking at the 24th meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government, Ishaq Dar delivered one of Pakistanโs most assertive diplomatic speeches this year. He urged member countries to speed up economic integration, strengthen trade relations, and expand investment partnerships. Dar also emphasized the need to modernize the SCO to better respond to emerging global challenges.
He highlighted the organizationโs potential to bolster regional disaster management. Dar revealed Pakistanโs development of a technology-based disaster response system and offered to lead simulation exercises with SCO members to improve preparedness.
