Man Dies After Wall Collapse at Data Darbar Construction Site in Lahore

A tragic accident occurred at the Data Darbar construction site in Lahore. A wall collapsed during ongoing construction work. The incident resulted in one death on Monday.

According to police, the accident took place near Gate No. 2 of Data Darbar. A crane reportedly hit a wall during construction activity. The impact caused the structure to collapse suddenly.

A 38-year-old man, identified as Shahid, was trapped under the debris. He was working near the site when the wall fell. The collapse caused severe injuries.

Local people quickly responded to the incident at Data Darbar. They rushed to the scene and helped rescue the victim. Shahid was pulled out from the rubble before emergency teams arrived.

He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. However, doctors confirmed that he could not survive his injuries. He passed away shortly after reaching the hospital.

Police reached the site soon after being informed. The area at Data Darbar was cordoned off for safety and investigation. Authorities began collecting evidence from the location.

DSP Hafiz Ubaidullah visited the site to supervise the inquiry. He directed officials to record statements and examine construction activity. The investigation is still ongoing.

Police have arrested five people in connection with negligence. These include the safety officer and crane staff. The arrested individuals are Tahir, Hamza, Mudassar, Ameer Muawiya, and Luqman.

A case has been registered against the accused. Officials said they will determine responsibility for the collapse at Data Darbar.

This is not the first incident at the site. Earlier, in January, a woman and her young daughter died. They fell into an open manhole during the same Data Darbar expansion project.

Following that tragedy, authorities suspended the project team. The Punjab government also ordered a review of safety standards. The Bhati Chowk remodeling project was also placed under scrutiny.

NESPAK, the project consultant, was issued a show-cause notice. Officials also recommended action against the resident engineer.

Authorities have stressed that safety violations will not be tolerated at Data Darbar. Further investigations will decide future legal action.
