Dense Fog Reduces Visibility, Forces Highway Closures Across Sindh

Intense fog has led to the closure of several highways and motorways across Pakistan due to poor visibility. Authorities have warned motorists to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.

The National Highway from Sakrand to Sukkur and the Indus Highway from Sehwan to Larkana were closed after visibility dropped to between 10 and 30 meters at several points. Traffic officials confirmed that fog has made driving extremely dangerous in these areas.

Similarly, the National Highway from Sakrand to Mirpur Mathelo is also affected by poor visibility, causing slow-moving traffic and delays. Drivers are advised to use low-beam headlights and maintain safe distances while on the road.

Motorways across the country have been affected as well. The M-I motorway is closed from Toll Plaza Peshawar to Swabi due to fog. The M-II from Lahore to Kot Momin, M-III from Faizpur to Rajana, and M-IV from Pindi Bhattia to Multan are all shut for vehicular traffic. M-V from Multan to Rohri and M-11 from Lahore to Sambarial are also closed.

Fog is reported on highways near Lahore, Manga Mandi, Patoki, Okara, Sahiwal, and Kaswal. Other affected areas include Mian Channu, Khanewal, Multan, Basti Malook, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Ahmadpur East, Taranda Muhammad Panah, Iqbalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad.

Authorities have urged commuters to check traffic updates and avoid traveling during peak fog hours. Emergency services are on alert to respond to accidents and other incidents caused by poor visibility.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that foggy conditions will persist in central and southern Punjab for the next 24 hours. Travelers are advised to plan their journeys carefully, use fog lights, and drive slowly to avoid accidents.

This widespread fog disruption highlights the hazards of winter weather, and officials continue to monitor highways and motorways to ensure public safety amid poor visibility conditions.
